GIRL SCOUTS EARN AWARD
Troop 1035 from Gillet was awarded the 2010 Wisconsin Lakes Stewardship award as a results of two Scout's Eagle Service Project.
YOUTH OF THE YEAR
Allyson has been a member of the DAR Boys & Girls Club for seven years. She is a senior at Menominee High School. She is also a member of the Heathy Youth Coalition, which is a youth group assisted by a youth group assisted by adults but ran by teens building awareness on under age drinking and tobacco use. Allyson is involved in many other activities and groups. Rich Crevier stated: "I have had the priviledge of watchin Allyson Aderman turn into a fine young women. She is goal oriented and measures her success by her actions. Her passion and desire to further her education is one goal she intended to follow through on. Allyson plans to pursue a medical degree at Marquette University. I am proud to have had the opportunity to know Allyson and wish her the best."
STUDENT GETS HELP
Oconto County Sexual Assault Center provides presentation to the local schools. After one of these presentations at a high school visit, a student disclosed she had been assaulted by an older cousin. The student had never told anyone about the incident. The advocate helped the student process her feelings and offered advocacy and support.
Tri-City Area United Way supports and funds the Girl Scouts, DAR Boys & Girls Club and the Oconto County Sexual Assault Center. Please help United Way help these programs!
